In June of 2016, Richard and his family returned to Charleston to join the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina and the staff at St. Michael’s Church. After serving as an Associate for Pastoral Care and Healing Prayer Ministry, Richard accepted a call to enroll in graduate school at Charleston Southern University in their Clinical Counseling Program. In becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, Richard joined the staff at Life Resources Christian Counseling Center to serve as their part-time Chaplain. In that capacity, Richard does Inner Healing Prayer with therapists and their clients and teaches on the integration of the best of Science under the authority of Scripture.
Richard met his wife, Paige, at the College of Charleston, and they were married in 1993 and lived in Charleston for a year. Richard taught English at Trident Academy before accepting a teaching position at his high school alma mater, Christ School, in Arden, North Carolina. In 1999, Richard and his family moved to Sewanee, Tennessee for seminary, and then back to Asheville, North Carolina in 2002 to serve as an Assistant at Trinity Episcopal Church. In 2004, Richard accepted a call to be the Senior Chaplain of Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, South Carolina.
Richard and Paige have three boys; Wells (27), Legare (25), and Buist (18). Wells is married and lives in Mt. Pleasant, Legare is finishing college at Trident Tech, and Buist is graduating from Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia and enrolling at Wofford College this fall. Richard is humbly honored to serve at St. Thomas’ while Hamilton is on sabbatical, and looks forward to being a part of this church community.
