Grace Time for March 14

Read + Respond

Read Along With Us!

We are working on a chronological reading of The Jesus Storybook Bible.  This week read “A new way to see” and remind your children of God’s big love for us.  Read the scripture from today’s sermon, Psalm 130.  Connect the reading to the story through the idea of forgiveness.  The Psalmist cried out to God and waited on him for forgiveness and Paul was forgiven for his sins.  Remind your children that we have God’s forgiveness and grace too!

Give each of your children a piece of paper and have them crumple it into a ball.  As they work, talk with them about how our hearts get “crumpled” when someone hurts our feelings, we feel left out, and because of our own sin. Have your kids open the crumpled paper and try to make it flat again. Talk with your children about forgiveness and how it is the mending process between two people, but deep hurts from others can leave cracks or even tears.

Then take away the crumpled paper and give the children a fresh new piece. Remind your children that when we have the forgiveness of Jesus in our hearts through our faith in him, he heals with his forgiveness and makes our hearts brand new.  Ask your children to create a picture on the new paper representing the goodness of the forgiveness we have in Jesus
